There are two ways to get the self installation kit you desire. It can be ordered online or by phone and sent to you via the mail. Or, you can pick it up at an Xfinity customer care center.

After you have received the kit, open it and inspect the contents.

These items should be included in your SD TV Box:

  • Comcast Customer Privacy Note and Agreement for Residential Services in the Xfinity envelope
  • Getting started guide
  • Xfinity TV Box
  • Xfinity remote and included batteries
  • Coaxial cable
  • An adapter for power cords

After you have checked that everything is in the box, you can begin to set up the Box. It’s a simple, two-step process.

Step 1 – Connect and Power Up

Use the coax cables. The coax cable is connected to the wall socket. Twist clockwise and then tighten with your finger. The other end of the line goes to the TV Box into the ‘Cable in’ socket.

The second cable is the coax cable if your SD TV box has one, and HDMI if your HD TV box has two. One end goes to the ‘…to TV’ port, while the other end of the line goes into the appropriate ‘TV IN’ port on the back of the TV set.

The only thing left to do is plug the power cable into your TV box and into an electrical outlet.

How to set up a new Comcast Xfinity TV Cable Box

Why should you leave the setup process to professionals

It is very easy to self-install. There are situations when you need to leave the installation up to professionals.

This applies to apartments and homes that have not had Xfinity infrastructure installed on their properties. It’s one thing to set up a TV box, but it’s quite another to lay a coax cable outside your home from the junction box.

It can be frustrating to schedule an appointment and pay extra for tech support. However, it will ultimately cost you less than attempting it yourself and ruining everything.

The bottom line is that if you’re not sure if your house is properly wired and linked to Xfinity, leave it to the pros.
