HP ENVY 110 – How to Scan (Windows)

This paper is for all-in-one HP and MFP printers with integrated scanners, and Windows computers.

To scan documents from your printer, use the HP Scan software.

Scan using the scanner glass

Step1: Set up e-mail scan (optional)

You must configure your email to a local email client, such as the Windows Mail app, Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird or Windows Live Mail, before you can scan to email. If you have already configured a local client on your computer or do not want to scan to email, skip to the next step.

  1. Windows Mail software is pre-installed on all computers running Windows 10. Look for mail in Windows, open the app and then add your email address. When using Windows 8, go to How to set up email account in the Windows 8.1 Mail App.
  2. Microsoft Outlook can be purchased either individually or as part of the Microsoft Office Suite at the Microsoft Store (in English). For instructions to add your username, go to How to set up an Internet email account in Outlook 2013 or 2016 (in French).
  3. Mozilla Thunderbird can be downloaded from Mozilla Thunderbird. To install Thunderbird follow the on-screen prompts and add your email.
  4. Windows Live Mail isn’t available for download anymore but still works if you already have it. Make sure you add the email you wish to scan to Live Mail.

Step 2: Install or update HP ENVY 110 Scan

Make sure you have the newest version of the printer program, and then make sure that your printer is connected with a USB cable or a local network to your computer.

  1. Go to HP Customer Support-to access apps and ride.
  2. Type your printer model, then press Under Driver-Product Configuration Code, Download next to the full feature software.
  3. Tap Install next to full driver featureFollow the Printer Connection Guided Setup instructions.
  4. Search Windows for HP ENVY 110 after the software is installed, and then selects your printer to open HP Printer Assistant.

NOTE: If you do not use HP Printer Assistant with your printer program, go to Which other scanning methods or applications can be found in Frequently Asked Questions.

  1. Click Scan a Document or Photo on the Scan tab to open HP ENVY 110 Scan, and then proceed to next step.

Step 3: Set preferences for scans

  1. Adjust HP Scan settings before you do a scan job.
  2. Selecting a shortcut and making sure the settings for the scan job are correct

  1. Pick a shortcut for Scan, such as Save as PDF or JPEG for Email.

NOTE: Select a PDF option to save or email a multipage scan as a single file. JPEG scans on multipage save as separate files.

  1. Pick the check box For User After Scanning.
  2. If both a document feeder and scanner glass are in your printer, select Flatbed under Source.
  3. Verify that other settings like Page Size and Color Mode are correct for your scan job.
  4. To alter advanced settings, such as Resolution (ppi), Orientation, Destination and File Name, press more.

Step 4: Edit and search

Load your documents, complete the scan, and then edit if required.

  1. Place the first object on the scanner glass that you want to scan face down, aligning it with the guide at the glass bottom.

  3. Click on scan in HP ENVY 110 scan App.
  4. The printer scans your document or picture and HP Scan will then show a preview.
  5. Click on the Add Pages icon in the bottom bar to add pages or scan the other side, place the next item face-down on the scanner glass, and then click Scan.
  6. To rotate, crop, or change brightness and contrast, double-click the individual pages, or click More for advanced options.
  7. Click Save or Send when you have finished editing your scan.

Scan using the document feeder

If you have a scroll fed scanner or an automatic document feeder (ADF) on your printer, use it for regular, duplex, multi-page, or legal documents.

Step 2: Install or update HP ENVY 110 Scan

Make sure that you have the new printer software update, and then ensure that your printer is connected to your computer.

  1. Go to HP Customer Support-to access apps and ride.

Step 3: Set scan preferences

  1. Pick a shortcut for Scan, such as Save as PDF or JPEG for Email.

NOTE: Choose a PDF shortcut to save or email a multipage scan as a single file. JPEG scans on multipage save as separate files.

  1. Pick the check box For User After Scanning.
  2. If both a paper feeder and scanner glass are in your printer, pick Paper Feeder if loaded under Origin.
  3. Make sure that your scan job matches the other settings such as Page Size, Color Mode and Page Sides.

NOTE: You can add pages to your scan later if you want to scan both sides and the 2-sided scanning is not an option.

  1. To alter advanced settings, such as Resolution (ppi), Orientation, Destination and File Name, press More.

Step 4: Scan and edit

Load your document, complete the scan, then edit if required.

  1. Load all pages into the feeder for print. To help you load your original pages correctly, look for a graphic with arrows on the document feeder.

NOTE: Ensure the original pages fit comfortably into the document feeder to prevent paper jams and feed problems. You can then add pages later to your scan job. Examples of printer graphics showing the way documents are loaded into the document feeder

  1. Click on scan in HP App.

The printer scans each page in the document feeder, and then a preview is shown on HP Scan.

  1. For duplex scanning, follow any prompts to flip and reload the pages.
  2. Click the Add Pages icon at the bottom bar to add more pages to your scan, load more pages into the feeder document, and then click Scan.
  3. Pick a tab to exclude pages from your search, then click on the Delete tab icon at the bottom bar.
  4. Click and drag pages into the order you want to change the order of your multipage scan.
  5. To rotate, crop, or change brightness and contrast, double-click the individual pages, or click More for advanced options.
  6. Click Save or Send when you have finished editing your scan.
