What is a Professional Branded Email address?

A professional email has your company name on it. For example, support@yourdomain.com is a professional email address. Yourdomain@yahoo.com, however, is not a professional address.

You have many options for creating a professional email address. The built-in mail server is available with all WordPress hosting companies. You can create a business email address for free in just five minutes.

This is a good option for starter websites with a tight budget. It lacks many critical features, such as better spam and antivirus protection and enhanced security, account management, and more.

Professional business email services that work with your domain (or business name) will provide you with the powerful features you need.

What is Outlook.com?

Microsoft offers Outlook as an email service. To use the service, you can create an account at yourname@outlook.com for free. To create a professional email address with Outlook.com you must sign up for Office 365.

The cost of the service starts at $12.50 per month. You get 1 TB OneDrive storage, the latest Outlook, Word Excel, and PowerPoint for your Mac or PC.

WPBeginner recommends G Suite from Google for business email addresses. It’s cheaper (starts at $5/month). We also prefer Google Cloud because our team is familiarized with Gmail and other Google Apps.

For more details, you can see our comparison of G Suite vs Office 365″.

Let’s now take a look at creating a custom-branded email address using Outlook.com.

Register for Outlook Premium with Office 365

First, visit Office 365 and sign up for their Business Premium subscription. This subscription is the only one that supports custom domains.

Personal information will be required. Click on the Next button and enter your payment information.

Once you sign up, you will be taken to the Office 365 admin panel. To add your custom domain, you will need to go to Setup >> Domains page.

This will take you to the domain settings page. To continue, click on the “Add domain” button.

Next, enter the domain name that you wish to set up. To continue, click the next button after entering the domain name.

Office 365 will now search for your domain name. Then, it will ask you to confirm ownership by adding information in your domain’s DNS settings.

You will need to go back to the settings page for your domain to do this. This page can be found under your account depending on the domain registration. The DNS settings option must be found.

If your domain is registered by your Bluehost. You might see something slightly different in your hosting screenshot.

Make sure the information you input matches that displayed by Office 365 when adding a DNS record.

After you have copied the DNS record, click the “Add DNS Record” button to save your changes.

Next, switch back to Microsoft Office 365 admin portal by clicking on the verify button.
