Red Globe On Verizon Router: What It Is & How To Fix It

Red globe on Verizon router can sometimes be a problem and can cause confusion. While the wireless connection works well, there isn’t any internet access.

And as a rule, our router starts having problems at weekend when in most cases the tech support can’t come to our address and fix the problem. We will be discussing the red globe issue on the Verizon router. First, let’s find out what this means and what we can do about it.

What does the red globe mean on a Verizon router?

The Power/Internet light represented by the globe on a Verizon router is called the Globe. When our router functions normally, when it’s on and connected to the internet this light is on and solid white.

Although the light may turn red for a variety of reasons, most likely it is an indication that there is an issue with your Internet connection. These are the three main situations:

  • Verizon router shows a solid red circle that indicates problems with the Internet connection.
  • Flashing red globe on Verizon router SLOW. If the red circle flashes slow, like twice per second, it means that the gateway has a problem.

If you hold down the WPS button for at least 10 seconds, the router will power cycle.

This should make the Verizon router’s red globe turn white.

Fix 4 – Reset the ONT (Optical Network Terminal)

Try the reset option if you still have problems after all the solutions.

You can reset the ONT by yourself by pressing and holding the Alarm Silence button located on the battery backup for between 15 and 30 seconds.

Fix 5 – Reset the Verizon router to factory settings

Important to note that all settings previously saved to the router’s factory settings will be lost when the router is reset to its default settings. This includes router username and password, network names and WiFi passwords. After the router is reset to factory defaults, it will need to be reconfigured. You will also have to connect all devices to your network using the new name and wireless password.
